Why does an AI table paste into one column in Google Sheets?
Because the table is plain text. Sheets splits a pasted line into columns only when the values are separated by tabs, and chat answers separate them with vertical bars instead. Every row arrives as a single piece of text, so it all lands in one column.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. The conversion happens inside your browser tab and the result goes onto your own clipboard. Nothing is uploaded, which is what makes this usable for figures you could not paste into a hosted converter.
Do I need to download a CSV first?
No. Pasting is the shorter route and is what this page is built around. A CSV download is still offered if you would rather import a file, for instance when you want the data to land in a brand-new sheet.
Will my numbers still work in formulas?
Yes. Ordinary numbers arrive as numbers you can sum straight away. Values that only look numeric, such as IDs with leading zeros, are kept as text on purpose so Sheets does not quietly strip the zeros.
